Mixed Results for Warren & Gibson Pennants10-Oct-2016
Both our Warren and Gibson teams played yesterday in the quarter finals. The Club came away with mixed results with a loss for the Warren team but a win for the Gibson team.
- Hurstville T.L. Warren team lost to The Coast 0.5 -2.5
- Hurstville W. Gibson team defeated Massey Park 2-1
The Warren team have had an astounding series and were undefeated in their six divisional matches. They progressed as the top seed into the quarter finals, but unfortunately their fantastic run ended after going down to the Coast.
We would like to congratulate the Warren team for their great result in making the quarter final. The Club is proud to have been represented by this team who played some fantastic golf with a great spirit.T.L. Warren Team
We would particularly like to thank Team Captains Paul White and Lloyd Piper for organising the team every week and making sure things went smoothly for everybody on game day.
The Gibson Team faced Massey Park, who were the top seeded team, in the quarter finals on Sunday. They played at Macarthur Grange Golf Course, which made the day an even greater challenge as this proved to be a very difficult course to play.
After the No 2 and No 3 teams split the results with a win and a loss, it all came down to the No. 1s. Trevor England and Phil Burbidge were 1 hole down heading to the 15th, and by their own admission, they were having a tough day out. A sudden form reversal saw them move back to All Square and then go 1up after the 17th Hole.
Needing only to halve the final hole, Trevor played the 18th beautifully. He then managed to hole one of only two decent putts he made all day to blow the opposition away and win the match 2up, thus handing victory to the Hurstville team.
The W. Gibson team are one of the last four remaining teams from the Metro District and play in the semi-finals this Sunday 16th at Kareela. Please wish the team good luck for the semi-final.
