Preferred Lies and other Rules

Preferred Lies
Please be aware we are now playing preferred lies only on only on fairways and around the green. (Closely mown areas)
Preferred lies of 30cm may be taken on fairways.
A player may place his ball only once, and it is in play when it has been placed (Rule 20-4). If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting it or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, he incurs a penalty of one stroke.
The player is only entitled to prefer the lie once, so the spot on which to place the ball must be chosen carefully! The ball is in play as soon as it is placed on the ground. If the player picks it up again and moves it, the player would incur a penalty of one stroke for moving his ball in play and the ball must be replaced (Rule 18-2a).
Preferred lies through the green is no longer available.

Practising on the course before a round
If the competition is anything else other than match play players may not practice on the competition course before the round. (Rule 7-1b). This includes putting on the greens. The penalty is disqualification.

Slow Play Policy
Slow play is again becoming a concern and although the numbers are few they can have an effect on the remainder of the field behind them. In 2019 slow play will be monitored and warnings and penalties will be issued to repeat offenders.
