1. The recently issued Draft Georges River Community Infrastructure Needs Assessment and Acquisition Area Strategy.
Hurstville Golf Club would like to thank all the members who gave the Council constructive feedback on the strategy outline in the draft documents during the public consultation period.
The club committee meets proactively with Georges River Council Executives regularly to discuss numerous matters. On this particular topic, the Council Director of Assets and Infrastructure has personally assured us that the Council has not discussed or made any plans concerning the current or future use of the Hurstville Golf Course, and has no intention of altering the current intended use of this site in the foreseeable future.
We were further assured that the language used in the draft report regarding golf courses is consistent with previous studies undertaken by the Council.
The Club will continue to monitor any future threats that may impact the golf course and is well supported by Golf NSW in foreseeing these issues.
2. An update on the status of the Greens and Course.
The coring on the green has now been completed and members will see that the grass is showing strong signs of recovery. The council had directed only potable water (town water) to be used and the use of water from the dam is to be avoided. A tank above the dam has been cleaned and filled with potable water. The pipes to carry the water have been flushed.
Bare patches and weeds will be attended to as the next priority by the greens staff.
The council has been seeking various reports and recommendations which the club will seek to have direction on at our meeting later this month. This will include a plan to address the cleaning of the dam and rendering it fit for purpose in the future or will it be an ornamental feature of the course layout
We will update members as information comes to hand.
